The Most Important Thing to Bring
“Probably the most important thing to bring to Disney is comfortable shoes for walking. Crocs or sneakers are your best bet!”
The first time we went to Disney I wore my ultra-comfy sandals. Worst mistake I ever made. I spent the first three days in tears at the end of the day with my feet hurting me more than I ever thought they could. Like it or not you will be doing a LOT of walking at Disney World. A LOT. More than you think is possible. Thus it is absolutely VITAL to have a good, comfortable, supportive pair of shoes.
After that first visit we brought our sneakers and had a much better, pain-free time. Our second visit we noticed a lot of people wearing Crocs, which we both thought looked ridiculous. Why would anyone ever wear them?
Well, we found that out after our first ride on the Kali River Rapids. Soaked with our sneakers squishing, we finally gave in and bought some Crocs. And were we glad we did! Not only were they light, but my feet didn’t hurt at the end of the day AND if they got wet? No big deal, they dried out really quickly in the Florida sun. The only downside was that there was a blister factor on the arch of my foot (I have high arches), but otherwise they were really comfortable. Now when we travel we make sure to bring sneakers AND Crocs. Sure, they look ridiculous. But we’re on vacation!
