Start a Tradition

“Start a tradition for your first day at the parks: we always go to Magic Kingdom and ride Snow White first, no matter what. What about you?”

That was the first tweet to kick off my Year of Disney and it is as true today as when I was three years old.  My family always went to the Magic Kingdom on the first day we were visiting the parks and Snow White’s Scary Adventures was always the first ride we went on after that long, magical walk down Main Street USA.  I don’t remember ever being scared on this ride, although I can see how small children would be.  I was always just excited that it kicked off what would be a great couple of days at Disney.

When I brought my then-boyfriend with me, I insisted we keep this tradition alive and now every time we go, we look forward to starting our vacation this way.  Sadly, with the Fantasyland expansion happening, Snow White’s Scary Adventures is being closed down and will not be reopened.  It makes me really sad that we will not be able to share this tradition with our kids or grandchildren going forward and I hope to be able to get at least one more ride in before they shut it down–though that seems unlikely.  So if this is one of the rides you like, make sure you get there soon to take one last ride through the story of Snow White!
