Disney's Magical Express is a Great Service

“Disney’s Magical Express is a great service! You don’t have to worry about your luggage as you are taken from the airport to the resort!”

We have used this service every time we have been to Disney World and it is fantastic!  If you book a package through Disney, when they send you your information they also send you some special luggage tags to put on your luggage.  Once you get to the airport you say goodbye as you check your bags because the next time you see them will be in your hotel room!  You don’t have to stand around baggage claim, you just get off in Orlando, ride that Almost A Monorail little shuttle they have, and then head downstairs to wait for the bus to your resort.

Now the airport is a bit confusing and the signage could definitely be improved since we always, always choose the wrong side to go down, but sometimes there are people holding signs that can direct you and if you get confused you can always just ask.  There’s a huge Disney store there and I’m sure they’re used to giving out directions!

Once you get downstairs you need to have your Magical Express booklet ready to be scanned so that they can tell you what line to get into.  I’ve heard that some people have had really awful long waits, but I think the longest we ever waited for a bus was about 40 minutes.  Once it arrives you all shuffle on and start off on the ride to Disney.  There’s a video that plays where the characters welcome you to Walt Disney World, and it’s just a really nice way to start your vacation.   You’re not the one driving and having to look up directions, after all!  You can just sit back and relax.  Each bus usually stops at two or three resorts, so it can also be a nice little tour with glimpses of other places you might think about staying at later.

The ride from the airport to your resort usually takes anywhere from 40-60 minutes, so do plan accordingly.  Luggage is usually delivered to your room around 2-3 hours after you arrive, so make sure you pack your swimsuit in your carryon so that you can wait by the pool!  Usually this is the time when we check in, drop our carryons then go play a little mini-golf.  We have never had a problem with our luggage being anything but magically waiting for us in our rooms once we get back.  It’s really an awesome service and best of all–it’s free!  Way better than renting a car!
