Explore the Many Themed Resorts
“Take a day away from the parks and explore the many themed resorts at WDW. It’s fun and you can scope out where you want to stay next!”
When it comes to Disney everything is really in the details and if you are rushing off to the parks every day you might miss all the wonderful things that go into making each resort special. We like to take a day and go “resort hopping” to see all the unique features each hotel at Disney offers. Some of our favorite stops are the Animal Kingdom Lodge to see the animals (though the bongos were our favorites and now they are not there!) and of course the Grand Floridian to sit in the beautiful lobby and listen to the band play.
We always like to take some time to explore the resort we are staying at. When we stay at the Wilderness Lodge (our favorite!) we like to just sit in the lobby in all its north-western glory or out by the pool to look up at the waterfalls. Most recently we stayed at Riverside and delighted in the attention to detail that was paid to every little thing. As you walk along the riverbank you go from big beautiful mansions to slightly less big mansions until you finally get down to the Alligator Bayou “shacks” where the bed posts are made to look like logs! The main buildings are modeled after a Steamboat company, complete with working dock and water wheel. Even the store has some fun details you might miss if you are just running through.
It’s a good way to spend a nice, relaxing day and also to figure out where you might like to stay next! Or to just dream that you someday might stay there once you win the lottery. Oh, Grand Floridian main building, why do you have to be so wonderful yet so expensive?
