What is Year of Disney?
After years of making the usual New Year’s Resolutions and of course, not keeping up with them, I decided to make a change. How about a New Year’s Resolution that was fun and would require me to stick with it day by day? Thus, http://www.twitter.com/yearofdisney was born. As the resident Disney expert in my family, it seemed like a good way to see if I really did know what I was talking about. I can talk about Disney for hours and jump at the chance to share my planning skills with anyone I hear talking about it. Could I post an original tip once a day for a year sharing my Disney knowledge with the world? Or, more likely, the random people that happen to friend me?
We’re two months in right now and while it has sometimes been hard to remember to make a post, I have not missed a day yet. Still, the twitter feed is so short that I sometimes feel I word things strangely and do not have enough space to fully explain what I mean. So that’s what this blog is for. Everyday–or even more than that until I catch up–when I post a tip I will also post a blog here with more explanation of it.
I have been to Disney more times than I can count thanks to a mother that worked for the airlines when I was growing up. After a long stretch of not visiting, I took my then boyfriend with me in 2005. I say “took” but really I had to drag him kicking and screaming. Having never been there and never really seen a lot of Disney movies, he was convinced Disney World was nothing more than an expensive theme park where we were going to have a terrible time. But that first time he walked down Main Street and saw the castle he described as “magical” and as soon as we got home he went out and bought every Disney movie he hadn’t seen and we’ve been back there almost every year since. Last October he proposed to me at Victoria and Albert’s in the Grand Floridian (I cried!) and while we are not planning a Disney Wedding (far too expensive!) we are hopefully planning on going on a Disney Cruise for our honeymoon. Though of course, that depends on how much money we have left over. Weddings are expensive!
So that’s a little bit about me. If you have stumbled your way here, I hope that some of my tips can help you save time, money, and headaches when you visit Walt Disney World. Or maybe just waste some time at work. Either way!
