Talk to the Cast Members

Talk to CMs they are always willing to chat and many offer an opportunity to speak to people from walks of life very different from yours.

With very few exceptions we have always found the cast members at Disney World to be absolutely outstanding and friendly. Best of all: they’re willing to chat with you about all sorts of things! Whether it’s Disney or your upcoming wedding planning thanks to some “Just Engaged” pins, we’ve had a ton of fun just talking to the people that work at the various parks. This can lead to all kinds of interesting conversations, especially at the Animal Kingdom and Epcot where you have a better than average chance of running into a cast member from another country. Asking them about where they’re from, how they’re liking the US, etc, is a great way to get a different perspective on things. Even cast members from the US are great–we once had a long conversation with a young woman working in our hotel gift shop about proposals and wedding planning and, of course, Disney Weddings! She had a ton of great ideas and we met a lot more cast members over the course of our stay thanks to those buttons.

One of the main reasons the World Showcase is around is to promote tourism to those countries (and the rumor is Brazil will be the newest addition after a 23 year lull!) so if you find yourself charmed by the atmosphere in Epcot, go ahead and look at the cast member name tags–they will tell you where that person is from and you can ask people that are actually from that country about it. We’ve always found them friendly and willing to chat–and some of them have absolutely great advice. So the next time you’re there, strike up a conversation!

Probably don’t try to talk to that jumping guy in the parade, though.  He’s busy!
