Take a Ride on the Liberty Belle
“Take a ride on the Liberty Belle to get great views of Tom Sawyer’s Island as well as Thunder Mountain and the Haunted Mansion.”
Sometimes you just don’t want to stand in line anymore but you don’t want to just sit on a park bench: that’s where the Liberty Belle comes in. Right off of Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom, this old timey riverboat is a great way to maybe catch a bit of a breeze and see the park from new angles. Depending on which side of the boat you stand on (and note you will stand, otherwise you won’t be able to see the great views!) you can see Tom Sawyer’s Island or watch as Frontierland goes by. It’s a great chance for the photographer in your family to be able to capture magnificent shots of Thunder Mountain and the Haunted Mansion from angles that you don’t normally see. Adam always makes sure to snap a few pictures of Thunder Mountain, but that picture of the train going into the cave remains elusive.
While on the Liberty Belle there’s a bit of narration that tells you about riverboats and when/how they were used. It’s a short little jaunt around the island there, but it’s a nice break from the overstimulation of the crowds and the park. You can relax and imagine you’re floating down the Mississippi River with Mark Twain, having a grand old time!
