Coronado Springs Can Be Surprisingly Quiet and Romantic

Staying at Coronado Springs? The courtyards and walkways can make for a surprisingly quiet and romantic get away in such a busy resort.”

The first time I took Adam to Disney in 2005 we stayed at Coronado Springs since it was pretty cheap thanks to a well timed discount. It was sort of a whirlwind trip, I think we were only there for five days, we counted our pennies the whole time, and I was very, very sick with the flu. But still we actually look back on that trip as probably the best one we ever had!

Coronado Springs is an absolutely gorgeous resort, what with the Mayan pyramid overlooking the lake and all the greenery on the paths. We were there in early June, you can tell because of the cloudy skies which would dump a ten minute or so thunderstorm on us every day, but the place did not feel the least bit crowded.  We had been worried because we had heard there was a lot of walking to be done, but we actually really enjoyed taking a stroll early in the morning or in the evening when we got home to take in the scenery. There is a convention center at this hotel, but whatever company was there was super, super quiet and respectful so it was great. We’d spend our evenings in that hammock pictured above just looking up at the stars and enjoying the lovely Florida weather. We ended up not spending a lot of time at the main pool, even though the fact that I’m an archaeologist was one of the main draws in staying here, because our room was right next to one of the quiet pools which was, well, quiet! We took a swim every night and were never bothered by splashing kids or anything.  It was like we had the place to ourselves!

While Wilderness Lodge is our all-time favorite place to stay, Coronado Springs is actually right up there as well.  I know most people think of places like the Grand Floridian when looking for a romantic resort, but don’t be swayed by all that Victorian decoration–Coronado Springs is a much quieter resort that is just as romantic. And you get to see a Mayan pyramid when you look across the water, how cool is that?!
