Don't Miss the Torch Lighting Ceremony at the Polynesian

Staying at the Polynesian? Don’t miss the torch lighting ceremony, the amazing landscaping, and watching Wishes across the lagoon!”

One of the original resorts, the Polynesian recently went through a room overhaul to get rid of the very 70s orange theme and updates with cool blues and flat screen TVs.  Not a bad trade up.  This is the resort that I used to stay at with my parents when I was very small the times that we stayed on property.  I have fond memories of my favorite dessert here: a layered chocolate cake that was covered in tiny chocolate chips that they haven’t had for years and years, but that I still look for every time! As a kid I swear there were colorful parrots located in the lush foliage around the waterfall in the main hall, but perhaps that was just my overactive imagination.

In any case: this is still a great place to stay, especially since it’s right on the monorail and just steps away from the Transportation and Ticket Center, making getting to Epcot a breeze! There are some special magical touches at this resort, like the torch lighting ceremony every Tuesday through Sunday at 6 pm that is just a real treat to watch. The landscaping is topnotch here, you really feel like you’re in a tropical paradise, and if the flowers don’t sell you, the pool has a volcano! Splash about under the glowing lava and then catch Wishes across the lagoon to wrap up a great day. If you have decided to upgrade to a Magic Kingdom view room, you can even watch them from your porch/balcony, how cool is that?
