Don't Miss Out on Exploring Tom Sawyer's Island

Don’t miss out on exploring Tom Sawyer’s Island, it’s a nice break from the rides. Make sure to keep your eyes open for paintbrushes!”

If you are headed straight for Splash Mountain or Thunder Mountain it can be easy to miss Tom Sawyer’s Island.  You need to board a raft in Frontierland that takes you over to the landing dock and then lets you explore a bunch of awesome nooks and crannies on this little island in the park! If you have read up on Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, you’ll get all the nods to Mark Twain over here. This is a great place to let kids run wild with bridges and a huge fort to explore along with a cave one can walk through and twisting walkways that usually end in picnic tables that are great if you bring a lunch or snacks with you.  And every morning cast members hide paint brushes somewhere on the island.  If you find one and return it you usually get a special fastpass.

We’ve never gotten there early enough to look for paint brushes, but we do like hitting up Tom Sawyer’s Island in the afternoon when we welcome the shade and the ability to just relax. They need to reopen Aunt Polly’s and make it a year round place to get delicious strawberry shortcake and lemonade, though.  There’s no better way to catch some relaxation in the park than to sit on a rocking chair outside of Aunt Polly’s and just watch the river!
