Read the Windows at All the Parks

“Take the time to read the windows at all the parks. While some jokes are more obvious than others, some are hilarious and not to be missed!”

I suppose I am cheating a little with this tip because the windows are definitely one of the park details that the Imagineers threw in and I covered that yesterday–but windows get a special mention here because all too often when people say “details” they mean things like decorations or things that are right there in front of you.  Usually to see the windows in the parks you have to look up.  There’s a ton of them on Main Street, for instance, mostly all above the shops.  Sure there’s some street level, but those usually contain displays of characters or items.  The windows I’m taking about are the ones meant to look like old timey advertisements and some of them are absolutely hilarious while others (like the ones on Main Street) cleverly call out Disney legends that were instrumental in the creation of the Walt Disney theme parks.

These are all easy to miss because really, who looks up when you’re walking down the street?  Sure you look ahead, to the sides, and even behind you, but everyone knows that the stores are only one level, so there’s no call to look above the entrance.  Well, this entry is to tell you that there is and the picture above should prove it.

We were just walking along, minding our own business, trying to figure out where to eat at Disney Hollywood Studios when I noticed the Hollywood and Vine sign.  And then was drawn to the window beside it.  It’s so perfect and so subtle (well, is a Rabbit cutout in a window ever subtle?) that we had to snap a picture.  We spent the rest of the vacation making sure to look up wherever we went so we could appreciate these little touches.  I have to imagine that most people just walk on by and don’t even notice they’re there, but some Imagineer somewhere is still laughing.

And in case you can’t read it, the window says:

Eddit Valiant
Private Investigator
All Crimes
Surveillance
Missing Persons

Combine that with the rabbit-sized hole in the window next door and name the movie.
