Hold on to Your Glasses on the Tower of Terror

Adam doesn’t really like rides like the Tower of Terror, but I love them!  So the first time we went to MGM (now Disney Hollywood Studios) like any good girlfriend I forced him to ride it with me.  He wears glasses, so all through the ride he went back and forth as to whether or not he should leave them on or put them in his pocket or just hold on to them.  As we rose up in that elevator shaft he decided that he couldn’t hold on to them since he had a death grip on the bar, but he didn’t want to keep them on his face for fear they’d fly off, so he would just put them in his front pocket.

Big mistake.

Right after the first drop all I could hear from him was (and there will be bad language here, kids, so watch it) “FUCK, MY GLASSES! FUCK! FUCK! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!”  They had flown out of his pocket and who the hell knew where they were now.  Rather than being afraid of the ride (well, really, I love that ride) I was sitting there thinking about how expensive it would be to replace those glasses and how much time at the parks we’d lose trying to recover then and of course, how utterly smashed they must be.

When the ride ended Adam was an absolute wreck starting to look around himself when the lady next to him said, “Hey, these aren’t my glasses!”  Apparently when they flew out of Adam’s pocket they landed on her lap and she grabbed them thinking they were her glasses that had flown out of her pocket!  We thanked her profusely and then Adam refused to ride the Tower of Terror again.  Luckily an older couple that was coming off the ride with us heard me saying I’d want to go again and adopted me for two more rides under the condition that I had to hold my arms up the whole time with them for all the drops.

It was awesome!  So today’s tip is to hold on to your glasses if you want to keep them, but then again if you end up losing them don’t panic, you can get them back and make new friends!  Just remember to hold your arms up on those drops.
