Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club has the Best Burger on Property

I love cheeseburgers. For the longest time I was a picky eater who wouldn’t bother with a restaurant unless it had one.  Who wanted fancy pasta or seafood, give me a good cheeseburger and some fries and I am happy!  So it was surprising that before our trip last year we had never been to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club.  Now they’re really known for their Kitchen Sink ice cream sundae, but I had also heard rumors that their diner-like atmosphere made them prime Best Burger material.  So on our first day of our trip last October we made the short walk down to the Beach Club after some mini-golf.

We ended up having to ask for directions after we thought we had come to the end of the walkway–it’s a bit confusing over there since their pool is blocked off with “resort guest only” access in parts and we didn’t want to break the rules! When we finally managed to get inside, the place was tiny.  Tiny, tiny! In fact, we luckily just beat out the rush to get in so we didn’t have to wait for a table at all!  But I would be surprised if the place could hold 25 people. The decorations were cute, though, all 50s diner-y. We were really just there for ice cream, but found ourselves rather unimpressed with their flavors.  Basically there weren’t any! It was really disappointing.  Not even your basic chocolate chip was available! So we changed our plans and ordered burgers instead.

They were delicious! I happen to like the burgers at Cosmic Ray’s, but these were better. Way better. Big and juicy and hot off the grill! The fries were also pretty tasty and in no time we had polished off our plates, ultimately satisfied that we had had the best burger on property. More than that: we’ve made a note to definitely come back on future trips, maybe this time with reservations because by the time we left, that line was huge!
