Stop by Disney Quest
“Water Parks and more ticket? Stop by Disney Quest! It’s a cool, quiet place to spend an afternoon, especially if you love old arcade games.”
We always get the Water Parks and more option added to our tickets because we love the water parks. But we also really love going to Disney Quest! It’s like no one else has heard of this place, but it is AWESOME! It has levels upon levels stocked with old arcade games and the latest in interactive ones as well. Do you miss being able to play Donkey Kong and Qbert? They’ve got them here and you don’t have to plug coins in to continue, they’re all free (after you get in with your pass of course). Burger Time is my all time favorite game (I admit I call it “the hamburger builder game” and had to look up it’s proper one) and they have that there, along with other old time favorites.
Old school arcade not your thing? They have the latest in racing games like a Star Wars Pod-racer and other driving based racers where you can compete against other players. Fighting games, air hockey, you name it, it’s here somewhere. They also have the latest in interactive and virtual technology: Put on a visor and ride Aladdin’s magic carpet through the market or join a bunch of other people in steering a pirate ship and fighting off other pirates to collect treasure in an ENTIRE ROOM built to be a pirate ship complete with working canons and an interactive all around screen. Being a Boston driver, I like being the captain and ramming my ship into things. It is an absolute blast!
Probably the best kept secret here is Cyber Space Mount where you build your own rollercoaster. You go up to a computer screen and pick out what planet you want your coaster to be on (ice, lava, etc.) and then you pick out different parts of the track. Each part is labeled according to how scary it is and includes such things as triple loop-de-loops and other upside-down twisty things. At the end, it gives your coaster a thrill rating from 1-5 with 5 being the scariest, then you take your card down a hallway to a waiting “pod.” You get in, they strap you in tightly, then close it up. On the screen in front of you your track comes alive and the whole pod starts MOVING! Up, down, and the best: UPSIDEDOWN! It is so, so much fun. They take a video of your face and reactions the entire time and show you a bit of it at the end. It is hilarious each and every time! We usually do this attraction at least three times or until we feel dizzy. It’s really, really great.
Disney Quest is perfect for those rainy days, so it can get a bit crowded. But the whole place is spread over five floors so we have never been there and felt like there were too many people. I haven’t even gone into the Buzz Lightyear Bumper Cars, the Jungle Cruise virtual raft ride, or the Animation Stations, but you get the idea. This place is packed with so many unique experiences that you are bound to find something every member of the family loves. And they have a food level where the cupcakes are insane. What more could you ask for than video games and sugar?
