Put Away the Smartphones

“Put away your smartphones for the trip! You can always check your messages in your room, but otherwise just enjoy Disney while you’re there!”

I’m the first one to admit that I am addicted to my blackberry.  And Adam’s iPhone for Angry Birds.  But after we were both checking our email every five minutes we realized we weren’t so much enjoying our vacation as keeping up on what was going on at work.  So we made a pact to leave the phones in the hotel room and definitely started enjoying ourselves more.  It was kind of scary how freeing that was!  But we learned the important lesson that the magic of Disney isn’t improved with constant access to twitter, Wikipedia, and Google.  Who cares if what was just said was entirely accurate or if people halfway around the world know you’re standing in line for Space Mountain?  Just enjoy yourself!
