Don't Miss Bakery Specials and Yee-Haw Bob Jackson at Riverside

Staying at Port Orleans Riverside? Make sure to enjoy the bakery specials (get a praline) and don’t miss Yee-Haw Bob Jackson in the lounge!”

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside the last time we were in Disney and found it to be a lovely, relaxing place to stay. The theming at this resort was absolutely top notch from the way the mansions slowly but surely downgrade to bayou style rooms along the river and how the main buildings are made to look like an old factory town. The working mill wheel right outside the restaurants is fantastic, as is the big hulking hull of a boat hanging over some tables inside. Even the bakery had specialties that you can’t find at other counter service restaurants both in the parks and at other resorts: the praline being the main example. The main delicious example!

Port Orleans Riverside offers buses to and from all of the major parks and we never had an issue with long waits or packed buses–but we do travel off season so keep that in mind. They have a lovely path along the river that I highly suggest walking at least once, all the way down to Port Orleans French Quarter.  That way you can enjoy the buildings as they go from poor to rich! There’s also boat service if you don’t feel like walking that will take you to Port Orleans and then on to Downtown Disney.  It was a nice thing to do once, but it felt like it took fooooorever.  We ended up taking the bus back when we were done spending even more money shopping.

And for nighttime entertainment, Yee-Haw Bob Jackson could not be beat!  Many a time we would come back late from the parks to find people crammed into the lounge laughing their heads off at his act.  He was supremely entertaining and we did our best to get back to see the whole show a couple of nights but unfortunately never quite managed.  Ah well, just something to put on the list for the next trip!
