Volunteer to be a Flag Family at the Wilderness Lodge
“Staying at the Wilderness Lodge and like getting up early? Volunteer to help with the raising of the flags on the roof in the morning!”
I am not an early riser, especially when I am on vacation, so while Adam was really interested in doing this when we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, I convinced him sleeping in was a priority. Maybe you’re different, though, and you like getting up at the crack of dawn and seeing the place in a whole new way–from the roof! Every morning the Wilderness Lodge raises five (I’m pretty sure it’s five) flags up on the flagpoles they have on the roof. And every morning a family that has volunteered is selected to help. You don’t actually have to be a full family, though I imagine having kids that like to get up at the crack of dawn helps, you can just be one person that wants to take part in this interesting experience. I am told that it is super popular with people that know about it, so you should ask if there are any openings at checkin so that you can sign up. And then be sure to set your alarm and bring your camera!
