There's more to the World than parks. A relaxing afternoon of fishing awaits you!

“Need a little relaxation and the spa just isn’t your style? Maybe a little fishing is the way to go.”

I’m not going to lie to you. I’m not an angler. Though I’ve had a lot of friends who are and I know that many of them don’t consider a vacation a vacation unless they’ve had a chance to get out on the lake and do some fishing. Disney offers just that in two and four hour excursions for up to five people. Unlike at home you can’t bring your own cooler of beer (Disney will provide the drinks) but will be given a rod and reel, tackle, all the bait they can eat and a guide who knows the waters. Excursions leave from a number of resorts and take place on many lakes around the World, from the marinas at the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian where you can fish in the Seven Seas Lagoon to Lago Dorado at the Coronado Springs or Barefoot Bay at the Caribbean Beach. It’s not exactly cheap, but five friends can split the costs and have a nice evening out on the water.

Not only are there fishing trips for adults, but kids can get out there for a first timer’s trip that lasts an hour. This one is offered at fewer hotels, but also comes in at a fraction of the cost of the adult trip.

Finally, for guests staying at the Port Orleans resorts one can always head over to Ol’ Man Island at Riverside and go fishing at the Fishin’ Hole while campers at Camp Wilderness can do dockside fishing. You just need to rent the cane rod  and an afternoon of quiet fun can be had. Spend a few hours away from the press of the parks and chill out with your kids.

Note that most (if not all) fishing at Disney is catch and release only. You won’t be cooking up the muddy fish you catch.
