Skip the Grand Floridian Spa

“While it might be a nice indulgence I would suggest skipping the Grand Floridian Spa. It’s expensive and not as relaxing as it should be!”

I realize this will be a controversial tip here, but I am offering it since my experience there was less than ideal. When we went a few years ago, Adam very sweetly surprised me with a big package there: I was to go spend an afternoon getting a massage, a facial, and a mani-pedi. Since I’d only ever had one manicure in my life and had never had any of the rest, I was SUPER excited! The place is really beautiful and the environment is relaxing, but at least the day I was there it seemed to be staffed entirely by teenagers. The girl who gave me a massage barely touched me, I liked the facial a lot, and then for the manicure and pedicure I had another teenage girl who basically just painted my nails. Then when I went back to the changing area to take a shower to get all the oil off of me from the massage, two male maintenance workers walked in as I got out! To top it all off, when I went out to the front desk I was subject to a hard-sell for their line of beauty products, which was hardly a relaxing end to what was supposed to have been a relaxing experience.

Now, maybe they’ve gotten better as time has passed. But since it was so expensive and I didn’t really think it was worth it, I avoided doing any sort of “spa” thing since. But just two weeks ago my mother and sister took me to get a pedicure at a local nail place. For $20 I sat in one of those awesome massage chairs, had someone actually take CARE of my nails on top of just painting them, and got a foot and leg massage! It was so nice and relaxing I was absolutely floored. So that’s why I would suggest skipping out on the expensive spa treatments at the Grand Floridian. They sound and look nice but ultimately, they are not worth the cost in my opinion! Save your money and go to a nice local place when you get home as a vacation away from your vacation!
