Every resort has jogging opportunities. Just ask.

“Not staying at a resort with a gym? Ask at the concierge desk. Every resort has jogging opportunities.”

So you’re on vacation and you don’t happen to be staying at one of the resorts with a spa. Not to worry, just because you can’t hit the treadmill doesn’t mean you can’t jog. Even if the resorts don’t have proper tracks that doesn’t mean they don’t have amazing jogging opportunities. And what better surroundings to jog in than at a Disney resort? Run around Lago Dorado at Coronado Springs or the nature trail behind the Wilderness Lodge.

When jogging at Disney there are a few things to be aware of. None of them are going to offer the kind of even, gentle run of a proper track. Some of them might not even be on sidewalk or blacktop, but on uneven ground. So make sure you know what you’re getting into before you get halfway out there. Also, remember that you’re in central Florida. Hit the ground early before the sun has had a chance to turn the morning mist into miserable humidity and before the mosquitos are out in full force. Some of the best jogging paths may also be higher traffic areas for surrey bikes or luggage carts, so be careful and watch out. Especially if you end up running through a parking lot!

Most of all, don’t push yourself. Unless you work in a job where you’re on your feet a lot, you probably don’t walk as much as you will in the World. After all, an average day at Walt Disney World can be anywhere from five to nine miles. Some barnstormers even manage twelve! So don’t burn through all of your energy in a morning run or you’ll crash halfway through your day. Invigorate, don’t deplete.
