Plan to Pay Tips On the Dining Plan
“Tips are not included in the Disney Dining Plans so plan accordingly. Calculate an approximate amount beforehand and have cash available!”
One of the best things about being on the dining plan is not having to worry about carrying money around or worrying about having enough money to eat. However, tips are no longer included in the dining plan (there were a lot of complaints about the service dining plan customers would receive when the tip was automatic!) so you’ll need to plan accordingly and make sure you have some way to cover that. It may not seem like a big deal, but if you’re staying for seven days and eating more than one table service meal it can start to add up. Consider that for two people a dining plan meal at a nice sit down restaurant can easily get to be $100 without any added alcohol and then start doing the math for those times you want to be waited on as opposed to doing counter service. We do approximate estimates of what we think meals will cost and then make sure we have cash with us so that we don’t have to whip out the credit card just to put a tip on it. And how awkward is that if you had bad service? Make sure to have the cash on hand to avoid any awkwardness! Or plan to just use counter services restaurants like the Mara where tips don’t come into play!
