The rain can bring out another side of Disney, one worth exploring!

“Rain can be a blessing in disguise! Explore your hotel, get in some exercise, people watch or even ride the safari at Animal Kingdom!”

In honor of the crazy weather we’ve been having here in Boston, and reports from friends on the ground in Orlando that central Florida is finally getting some much-needed rain this week, here are a few things you can do in the rain to make the wait for the sun just a little more bearable.

Explore your hotel. This one works best if you’re at a deluxe hotel, as many of them have plenty of activities for kids, but every hotel has nooks and crannies worth checking out.

Hit the exercise room. You’ve been doing a lot of walking, sure, but there’s no reason not to do a little biking or pumping some iron while you wait for the weather to clear up.

Just find a place in the park and watch people wander by. Or scout out a hard-to-get-into restaurant and hope for cancellations. It’s not unlikely.

Finally, one of my personal favorite rainy day activites? The Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You act different in the rain and so do the animals. It’s worth a two week trip from Harambe through the wilderness to see how the animals respond to the weather. I bet some of them are people watching, too!
