Disney Cruise Line: Adults Only

After checking out our room we decided that we while they were still boarding we wanted to check out the rest of the boat–particularly the adults only section, Europa, where they had a number of bars that we had heard were amazing in their Disney detail. And so we set off down this delightful hallway:

And if you forget the names of the different bars don’t worry they have them up on the wall!

As we turned the corner we actually ended up in the first one: La Piazza. This one has an Italian carnival feel to it and the bartender (whose name I am aghast to not remember) greeted us instantly in such a cheerful way that we actually sat down for our first “official” drink. Because of course getting a drink at a buffet doesn’t count.

We were the only two people there, but we enjoyed the place (and the very friendly bartender!) so much that we returned again and again. Here the place is packed due to a trivia contest (that we did terribly on):

Continuing past La Piazza there was a delightful little sitting area in case you wanted to just chill while not being seated at a bar. We later found out that late night munchies were put out on the counter here!

That little archway leads to my second favorite bar: Ooh La La. It is designed as if you were in a fancy jewelry box and is a champagne bar. Here you can get a glass or a bottle of champagne (priced for every sort of budget) and relax in a plush chair or couch. We only went there once, but I greatly enjoyed it!

There are two bars that I do not have pictures of: O'Gills and Skyline. Of the two, I liked Skyline the best, but that may be because I am not a beer drinker. O'Gills is your quintessential Irish Pub with all the polished woodwork that brings to mind! It’s got TVs where I assume you could watch “the big game” (whatever that might mean to you) and we did a trivia night there as well. It was actually pretty great wandering through this area. Someone would be like “We’re having trivia do you want to play?” and we’d be like “Sure!” and then we’d lose. We almost won this trivia contest though! We should have gotten one more point than the winning team, but the question was to list people who have played Batman and apparently they didn’t count voice actors for the cartoons. They should! Kevin Conroy is Batman!

Anyway.

Skyline is a very “sophisticated” atmosphere and has this amazing wall behind the bar that changes the view every couple of minutes. So when you enter you might see Paris, but in a few moments you’ll be in London! It is actually very well done and I enjoyed their martini selection. It was quite cool and I wanted to go back, we just never made it.

The last bar in this area is called The Tube and if that doesn’t give away the theme, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s all based on the London Underground and it is EXTREMELY well done! This is the “nightclub” of bars, where there’s dance parties at night. We went in for a trivia game (we can’t resist those apparently) and for a DVC pitch, but never actually went drinking here so I can’t speak to the selection. But you definitely should drop in if only to take pictures like these:

Now there were other areas on the ship were you could go to get a drink that were not in the adults area–to the delight of many a parent I am sure as children are not even allowed to walk through Europa! One of these is at the very tip top of the ship called Meridian. It. Is. Amazing. Not only is the place decked out in leather and uses a whole world traveler theme that is just amazing, they have a deck off to the side where you can sit outside and sip your drink. And the place is usually empty! I think it is a hidden secret since every time we went up there it was completely empty.

But maybe you don’t feel up to going to a bar, don’t want a chatty bartender or want to run into that couple you have to sit with at dinner every night (we actually loved our table-mates but still!), you can just head to the lobby and sit on one of the couches near the bar that’s right there and enjoy yourself a delicious beverage while looking out one of the huge porthole windows!

Or–and this is my favorite–just head on out to the deck and find a pool chair. Eventually someone will wander over with a tray full of delicious drinks. The conversation usually goes something like this:

“Would you like a strawberry daiquiri?”

“Why yes, I would in fact love a strawberry daiquiri!”

Then it is in your hand. And then in your hand is an empty glass because it is delicious.
