Disney Cruise Line: Is It For You?

I don’t know about you, but I grew up watching the Poseidon Adventure whenever it played on weekends when I visited my dad. The old version, not the new one. So to say I was a little afraid of big boats was an understatement since I could never hold my breath as long as they did when swimming through that narrow part of the ship to safety.
Now that I’ve reminded you that cruise ships are terrifying, allow me to assure you that you ABSOLUTELY WANT TO GO ON A DISNEY CRUISE! I was pretty skeptical when my husband brought it up as a possibility for our delayed honeymoon/1 year anniversary. I like boats just fine so long as you can see the shore, but this was a big boat out on the ocean. But he was really set on going and neither of us had ever been on a cruise before, so I hesitantly okayed it.
And now I would not hesitate at all to say that the 7 day Western Caribbean cruise we went on aboard the Disney Fantasy was hands down the best vacation I have ever been on! Yes, even better than the Disney parks! It was the most relaxing, enjoyable vacation ever, and daily I wish we could go back!
What changed my mind? Well first let me tell you about the reservations I had. We’ve already covered the big boat in the middle of the ocean thing, but I was also a little concerned that it was a Disney cruise and while I was sure the attention to detail would be amazing (and oh it was!) I was concerned that we would stand out as an adult couple with no children on a boatful of kids. It only took about five minutes on the boat for me to realize this fear was unwarranted–but for the next few weeks I will be posting blogs about our experience with the Disney Cruise Line and how I would completely and totally recommend it to anyone–even people who are not huge Disney fans!–who wants the best vacation of their life. So stay tuned!
