Disney at 26 Weeks: Pirates Drop Isn't SO Bad But...
Like all expectant moms I studiously paid attention to all the signs warning about rides I should not go on. I had studied up with numerous google searches, reading about what rides people felt comfortable on and what rides they did not. Pirates was one of those rides that people seemed split on. I read about one woman who rode it, but had forgotten about the drop at the beginning, and spent the rest of the day worried she’d done something bad.
Well here was my experience: The drop was nothing–it was the stop that I wasn’t prepared for. The drop itself is pretty bland and smooth, but at the bottom our boat slammed into the rail to straighten out and I was indeed jostled unexpectedly. Not enough that I was too worried, but it was unexpected enough that I was briefly upset. We subsequently rode it again later on in the week and since I knew what was coming I was able to brace myself and was absolutely fine.
So if you are wondering about Pirates, just make sure you have braced yourself appropriately for the stop at the bottom. In my case I had one hand on the rail in front of me and one hand lifting myself up a little bit from the seat and in this way I was able to spare myself from most of the jostling! Well worth it for one of the rides where the line moves quickly, is indoors, and allows you to sit down in a cool environment for awhile. Something all pregnant moms need!
