Disney at 26 weeks: Maelstrom is Jiggly but Not Too Bad

One of our favorite rides at Epcot is Maelstrom in Norway. We’re total dorks, I know. We love to visit our friend “Hans” in the big mural and even take in the delightfully (horrifyingly?) 80s video on Norway at the end. But Maelstrom does have a drop so I was a little nervous about riding it–it turns out the drop is nothing. It’s very gentle and there isn’t even much bumping when you level out due to the amount of water they have in that room. What WAS startling was at the very beginning of the ride when you are going up to meet the Odin face–that was EXTREMELY jiggly. Not enough to cause me discomfort, but enough that I was like “Wow I did not remember this part!” It’s not so much jolting as it is…vibrating. Like you feel as if your butt is going to sleep! It’s a steep pull so it lasts about a minute, maybe a minute and a half, so just be prepared! As long as you know it is coming, it is not at all bad. And it’s a nice cool sit down ride after walking around the World Showcase!
